“Empuraan,” the highly anticipated second installment of the “Lucifer” franchise, has been in production for quite some time. The film, starring Mohanlal, began filming in October 2023 and has been shot at various locations including Kerala, New Delhi, Ladakh, the USA, and the UK. Recently, actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team commenced the Gujarat schedule of L2E. According to reports, they are currently busy filming scenes involving Zayed Masood, the character played by Prithviraj.
Mohanlal Filming Zayed Masood’s Backstory in Gujarat
Reports suggest that Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team are filming the backstory of Zayed Masood in Gujarat. Karthikeya Dev, the actor from “Salaar” who is playing the younger version of Zayed, shared this update. Karthikeya also portrayed the younger version of Prithviraj’s character Varadaraja Mannar in the 2023 blockbuster “Salaar.” He recently confirmed his participation in L2E through an Instagram story, indicating that he has joined the team for the shoot.
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Return to Action
Prithviraj Sukumaran previously revealed that due to a leg injury, he was not allowed to perform action sequences until June 2024. Recently, after completing his rest period, he began shooting intense action scenes involving his character Zayed Masood for “L2: Empuraan.” Prithviraj posted a picture from the night shoot on his Instagram, indicating that high-voltage action sequences are in store for the Malayalam cinema audiences.
Extensive Shooting Schedule for L2 Empuraan
According to rumors, Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team have already shot for over 65 days for the film. However, only around 40 percent of the shoot is complete so far. The remaining portions of the Mohanlal starrer will be filmed in multiple schedules. It is expected to last for over 110 to 120 days. This suggests that the entire filming of “L2: Empuraan” will likely be wrapped up by October 2024. If reports are accurate, the filmmakers plan to release the movie in March 2025.
