List Of Tamil Films Lined To Capitalize On August 15

Tamil cinema, which has faced a dry spell for over six months. It is finally seeing a glimmer of hope with several highly anticipated films set to release soon. The Dhanush-starrer “Raayan” is scheduled to hit the screens on July 26.

Adding to the excitement, three major films are slated for release on August 15, coinciding with Independence Day. These films are Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s “Thangalaan,” Prashanth’s “Andhagan,” and Keerthy Suresh’s “Raghu Thatha,” all set to create a buzz among cinema-goers.

Tamil Films Releasing On August 15

Thangalaan

It is an upcoming period action film directed by Pa Ranjith. The film stars Vikram in the lead role, supported by a talented cast including Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, and others. The storyline is centered around the origins of the Kolar Gold Fields.

Produced by Studio Green, Jio Studios, and Neelam Productions, the film features music composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The technical team includes Tamil Praba as the co-writer and Kishor Kumar handling the cinematography, with editing by Selva RK. The film’s post-theatrical rights have been acquired by Netflix. “Thangalaan” will be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu.

Andhagan

“Andhagan” is the Tamil remake of the critically acclaimed Hindi film “Andhadhun.” This black comedy thriller stars Prashanth in the lead role, with an ensemble cast featuring Simran, Priya Anand, Karthik Muthuraman, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Urvashi, KS Ravikumar, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Leela Samson, Poovaiyar, and Manobala in significant roles.

The plot revolves around a blind pianist who becomes an unintended witness to a murder committed by a wealthy housewife. The film is directed by Prashanth’s father, actor Thiagarajan, adding a personal touch to the project.

Tamil Films – Raghu Thatha

“Raghu Thatha,” starring Keerthy Suresh, is positioned as a comedy entertainer. This film marks the maiden Tamil production by the Kannada banner Hombale Films, known for the successful Kannada franchises “KGF” and “Salaar.”

Directed and written by Suman Kumar, “Raghu Thatha” features a supporting cast that includes MS Bhaskar, Ravindra Vijay, Devadarshni, Jayakumar, Rajeev Ravindranathan, Anandsami, Rajesh Balachandran, Ismath Banu, Aadhira Pandilakshmi, Janaki, and Chu Khoy Sheng. KS Mippu, Mukesh, and Manoj Kumar Kalaivanan also play key roles, promising a vibrant and engaging film.
