Mahesh Bhatt talks about trolls

Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, known for his candidness and outspoken nature, recently addressed the topic of social media trolling and the various narratives created about him and his family. In a revealing interview with Zoom TV, Bhatt shared his perspective on why he remains unfazed by online hate. Despite the intense scrutiny and criticism, Bhatt emphasized that his silence should be interpreted as a conscious choice rather than fear.

Bhatt explained his approach to dealing with online negativity, referencing a quote by Lord Krishna: “Inaction is action.” According to Bhatt, his decision to remain silent amidst trolling is a form of action, demonstrating his strength rather than weakness. He stated, “When I chose not to act, that was action. So, the trolls out there or my adversaries knew that I came from strength, did not come from cowardice.” For Bhatt, his silence represents a deliberate choice to avoid engaging with what he considers a manufactured narrative.

He further elaborated that he has nothing to protect, asserting, “What is there to protect? My children will take care of themselves like I took care of myself. And if there is a need, I am a firewall. You have to get to me first.” Bhatt’s stance reflects his belief that the virtual world often receives more attention than it deserves, and he values real, authentic experiences over online interactions. He added, “The virtual world seems to become more valuable than the real world. I don’t subscribe to that. I think the real relationship is to cry openly in front of the camera, and that is living life there at the arena.”
