MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 : The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival is Asia’s most prestigious film festival and finally returns for its 2024 edition 19-24 October.

This six-day celebration of global cinema, creativity, community, and culture will showcase 110+ films from over 45 countries—spanning 50+ languages, lengths and genres—as part of the Official Selection.

The Main selection Competition continues to hearten independent filmmakers from South Asia and its diaspora. The expanded concept of the former ‘India Gold’, which was already well-known among independent filmmakers in the country.

The MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image ) Mumbai Film Festival  is organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, which was founded by a group of Indian film industry stalwarts in 1997.

It was created with the aim to “engage film lovers from all walks of life, and to foster an ideal climate of good cinema across the country by presenting the best of global and Indian cinema”.

Movies to be screened at MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024 

Among the big-ticket films are The Room Next Door by Pedro Almodóvar, Emilia Pérez by Jacques Audiard, The Substance by Coralie Fargeat, A Different Man by Aaron Schimberg, Cloud by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Harvest by Athina Rachel Tsangari, Suspended Time by Olivier Assayas, Rumours by Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson & Galen Johnson, April by Dea Kulumbegashvili, and Universal Language by Matthew Rankin.

The Academy’s stated vision is to celebrate cinema by hosting the annual international film festival in Mumbai, widely regarded as India’s film and entertainment capital.

Apart from the film festival, MAMI also organises the Year Round Programme, under which MAMI holds screenings and talks throughout the year .

The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2023 introduced the South Asia Competition, inviting films from filmmakers of South Asia (with the exception of Pakistan and the South Asian diaspora.

The selected films representing 10 languages and 12 countries, the competition exemplifies the festival’s dedication to discovering new talent while championing the innovative and transformative power of cinema.

The upcoming edition of the festival is scheduled for 19 to 24 October 2024 at Jio World Cinema center, Mumbai.
