The trailer of ManiRatnam’s dream project PS1 (Ponniyin Selvan) was launched in Chennai yesterday, September 6. Made on a very high-budget, the trailer promised a visually-rich affair on the way.
Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s historical epic, Ponniyin Selvan trailer said that the film will deal with the story of the greatest Chola empire. Trailer begins with the visuals of a comet across the sky and it asks for the sacrifice of the royal blood. Later, we are introduced to Chiyaan Vikram as Aditha Karikalan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman and Karthi as Vanthiyathevan. The three men ride horses, go out on secret missions and meet princesses of distant lands, Trisha Krishnan, who plays Kundavai.
However, the highlight of the trailer is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen Nandini. Above all, her eyes do not leave the royal throne, though the wars and battles ensue and blood is shed.
Aishwarya will be seen in dual roles. She will play queen Nandini, as well as Mandakini Devi .
Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Mani Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under the Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions banners, respectively. The film has Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita in key roles. Billed to be a Pan-Indian film, it is slated to hit the theatres on September 30.
