Marvel Announces Blade Set For 2025 Premiere

In 2019, Marvel Studios announced that two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali would be stepping into the role of Blade, the iconic day-walking half-vampire vampire slayer previously brought to life by Wesley Snipes. The original Blade, produced by New Line Cinema, debuted in 1998 and became a blockbuster hit, cementing Snipes’ portrayal as a fan favorite.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and other delays, Marvel remained committed to bringing Blade into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Initially slated for a November 3, 2023, release as announced by Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con, the film experienced several postponements, eventually landing on its current release date of November 7, 2025. This determination reflects Marvel’s dedication to integrating Blade into their expansive and evolving cinematic universe.

Marvel’s 2025 Lineup

Marvel Studios has a robust slate of films set for 2025, showcasing their continued expansion and development of beloved characters and storylines. The year kicks off with “Captain America: Brave New World,” slated for a February 14 release. This film will further explore the legacy of Captain America, with Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) taking up the shield. Following this, “Thunderbolts” is set to premiere on May 2.

This film, which has undergone a title change to reflect its updated direction, will delve into the darker side of the Marvel Universe, focusing on a team of anti-heroes and reformed villains. Summer 2025 will see the highly anticipated debut of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” on July 25, marking the MCU introduction of Marvel’s first family. The year will culminate with the much-anticipated release of “Blade” on November 7, bringing a darker, supernatural edge to the MCU.

Marvel’s 2026 Releases

The lineup for 2026 is shaping up to be equally exciting, with a mix of confirmed and untitled projects. The year will begin with an as-yet-untitled Marvel film scheduled for February 13, keeping fans guessing about what new adventures or characters might be introduced. The highlight of the year will undoubtedly be “Avengers: Doomsday,” set for a May 1 release.

This film is expected to be a major event in the MCU, featuring Robert Downey Jr. in a surprising new role as Doctor Doom, adding a fascinating twist to the Avengers saga. Another untitled Marvel project is scheduled for November 6, 2026, maintaining the studio’s tradition of keeping future plans under wraps to build anticipation and excitement among fans. Interestingly, a previously planned third untitled Marvel movie, which was scheduled for July 24, 2026, has been removed from the calendar, indicating possible shifts and changes in Marvel’s strategic planning.

Looking Ahead to 2027

Marvel Studios has already started laying the groundwork for 2027, with major releases planned to continue the momentum built in the previous years. The highlight of the year will be another Avengers film, “Avengers: Secret Wars,” slated for a May 7 release. This film is expected to be a monumental event, potentially bringing together a vast array of characters from across the MCU in an epic crossover.

Additionally, two more untitled Marvel projects are scheduled for release, one on July 23 and the other on November 5, 2027. These dates suggest Marvel’s commitment to maintaining a steady stream of content for fans, ensuring the MCU remains a central part of the cinematic landscape. The strategic spacing of these releases indicates Marvel’s careful planning and foresight in crafting a cohesive and engaging narrative that will keep audiences hooked for years to come.
