The controversial film ‘The Kerala Story’ has been in the news since its announcement. the film is directed by Sudipto Sen and it stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani in the lead roles. The film is the story of a group of women from Kerala who are coerced into converting to Islam and joining the Islamic State militant Islamist group. Many called the film a propaganda and there is no truth in whatever is shown. It was even banned in many states. The film is getting good response from the audience and is getting huge box office collections.

Recently, the filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tweeted about the film ‘You agree with the film or not, be it propaganda, counter-propaganda, offensive or not, to ban it is just wrong.’ When asked Nawazuddin about the tweet, he agreed with Anurag’s statement. But later, he also said that if a film is hurting the audience’s sentiments, then it’s wrong.

He further told that movies should be made to increase social harmony and love among the people and that it is their responsibility to propagate the same. If a film has the power to break people and disturb social harmony, it is extremely wrong. He added ‘Humein isse duniya ko jodna hai, todna nahi hai (We need to unite the world, not to divide it). Adding to it he said nothing in the world deserves to be banned.
