Not Salman Khan, but this actor was first approached for Maine Pyar Kiya

Salman khan’s debut movie as a lead actor was the sensational romantic drama, ‘Maine Pyar kiya’. The movie, directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya was his break through movie which made him the star he is today. We see him as a romantic and innocent young man fighting for his love – a contrast to the roles he plays these day.

However, it was recently revealed that Salman Khan was not the first choice for the role of Prem Chaudhary. Actor Piyush Mishra was first approached for the film when he was in his final year at National School of Drama. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for Salman Khan, it didn’t work out. Here’s why!

In an interview, the actor revealed, “Woh haadsa tha, but I don’t regret. When I was studying in final year of NSD, few months were left for me to pass out. My director called me to his room. Now, I was a very haseen ladka, I was very handsome in my time. I had a German jaw and a Roman nose. When I went to the chamber, I was introduced to a gentleman, who was a big director, I won’t take his name, and he was launching his son as a director. He said they are making a film called Maine Pyar Kiya, they have shortlisted the girl, now they have come to NSD to find the male lead.”

Though he was asked to come to Mumbai right after graduation, the actor chose not to go. He shared that by then, he had started to hate the world. When he went to Mumbai three years later, he found about Salman Khan, the star born out of Maine Pyar Kiya! It seems like the actor does not regret the choice as he feels the work he has done would not have been possible if he had gone to Mumbai then. He stated, ” Everyone has their own journey, their destiny.”
