Prabhas Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as one of India’s biggest hits this year. The film, featuring global superstar Prabhas and directed by the talented Nag Ashwin, has made waves by grossing over Rs. 1100 crore worldwide.
The epic science fiction film is available for streaming on platforms like Netflix in Hindi and Amazon Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil , Malayalam and Kannada.
However, it is reported that in a recent deal with film’s producers Gemini TV has secured the satellite rights for a whopping amount , which is yet to be confirmed by filmmakers and Gemini Tv .
Kalki 2898 AD is an epic science fiction film directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies.
The film is reportedly inspired by Hindu scriptures, it is the first instalment in a planned KCU (Kalki Cinematic Universe) . It is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD, the film follows a select group who are on a mission to save lab subject SUM-80’s unborn child, Kalki.
Film’s plot
The dysapotanian film is set in future i.e 2898 AD, 6000 years after the events of the Kurukshetra War, Kasi stands as the last known city in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by Supreme Yaskin, a 200-year-old totalitarian god king. Yaskin rules from the ‘Complex’, an inverted-pyramid megastructure that floats above the city.

The film’s ensemble cast inlcudes Deepika Padukone , Amitabh Bachchan ,Kamal Haasan ,Rajendra Prasad, Shobhana, Saswata Chatterjee, Brahmanandam, Pasupathy, Anna Ben , Keerthy Suresh, Arjun Das , and Disha Patani .
Prabhas film was released worldwide on 27 June 2024 in standard, IMAX, 3D and 4DX formats worldwide in Telugu , Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kanaada to positive reviews.
The epic sci-fi film was made with an estimated budget of Rs ₹600 crore and has estimated collected ₹1,028–1,200 crore globally.
It has set multiple box office records for an Indian and Telugu film, including the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024, the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2024, the third highest-grossing Telugu film, the fourth highest-grossing film in India and the seventh highest-grossing Indian film.
Kalki 2898 AD’s much anticipated sequel is reportedly in the pre production phase and will soon goes on the floors.
