Prabhas revealed that filmmakers were shocked when Baahubali: The Beginning received such a great response in Mumbai and up North.

The first film, Baahubali: The Beginning, was released in 2015. At the time, no one could have predicted that it would become such a huge success.

Baahubali film impressed not only Telugu audiences, but also individuals from all around the country. “Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?” everyone wondered. The internet was full of jokes, conversations, memes, and theories. Part 2 sparked a great deal of interest and anticipation.

However, in a 2019 interview, Prabhas claimed that the team was taken aback by the overwhelming response to Baahubali: The Beginning in Mumbai and up north. He wasn’t sure how the picture would be accepted in the north of the country.

Salaar actor told the Mumbai Mirror, “I am still wondering if it (franchise) really happened, it’s surreal.” When asked which of the two sections was more difficult, Prabhas replied, “The beginning, because the budget was so large, and we weren’t sure how it would be received up north.” Even the second half surpassed our expectations.

He further said ,”The second installment, named Baahubali: The Conclusion, was released in 2017 and became an even bigger success than the first one.”

Forthcoming films

Prabhas is starring in major pan-India film, Kalki 2898 AD. Nag Ashwin directs the sci-fi dystopian drama, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Prakash Raj, and Disha Patani.

The film is regarded as one of the most Indian films ever produced. It was also the first film revealed for Comic Con 2023. The film is set to be released in theaters on May 9, 2024.
