Salman Khan starred in the third installment of the Ramesh Taurani-backed Race series, elevating the franchise to new heights. Recently, the veteran producer shared updates on the upcoming part of the movie and discussed whether Khan would be involved. Read on to learn more about the sequel to Soldier as well.
Updates on Race 4
Under the banner of Tips Films, Taurani has produced several successful films. With the Race franchise being one of the standout series. The first two parts, directed by Abbas-Mustan, featured Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. However, Salman Khan took the lead in Race 3, directed by Remo D’Souza.
Is Salman Khan part of Race 4?
Mr. Ramesh Taurani revealed to PTI that the script for the next part of Race is ready, and the casting announcement will be made soon. He mentioned, “The cast will be new. I can’t comment on whether Salman Khan will be part of it or not. It will go on floors by the end of the year. It’s not decided yet who will direct it.”
In the same interview, Taurani confirmed that a sequel to the 1998 hit Soldier, starring Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta, is in the making. Additionally, a spin-off of Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor’s Bhoot Police is also being planned.
Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan’s Next Project
The veteran producer also announced that he would be backing a new film by the hit father-son duo, Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan. The movie, which is yet to finalize its female lead. It will be an entertainer with a love story and great music. Taurani stated, “We are doing an entertainer movie with a love story and great music with Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan. It will go on floors soon.”
Challenges of Making Sequels
Further in the interview, Taurani discussed the challenges of making sequels. He recalled how the trend of sequels began around 2009-2010 with movies like Race and Dhoom, prompting many filmmakers to jump on the bandwagon. According to him, creating a successful sequel requires extra attention to the script since the original film holds significant brand value.
