Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan Makers Unveil First Song ‘Manasilaayo’

The highly anticipated first single from TJ Gnanavel’s upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer, “Vettaiyan,” was released on Monday, stirring excitement among fans. The track, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, was previewed in a teaser on Sunday, which has already generated significant buzz.

The teaser features Rajinikanth and Anirudh Ravichander in strikingly stylish looks. Rajinikanth in a sleek black suit and dark sunglasses, and Anirudh in a traditional veshti. The song, titled “Manasilaayo,” also highlights Manju Warrier in a captivating red and gold saree, adding glamour to the dance number.

The Essence of “Manasilaayo”

“Manasilaayo” is a vibrant, celebratory track that echoes the grand welcome seen in Rajinikanth’s previous song “Chumma Kizhi” from “Darbar.” The title of the song draws inspiration from a memorable line delivered by Vinayakan in Rajinikanth’s prior film, “Jailer.” A noteworthy feature of the song is the innovative use of AI technology to recreate the voice of the late Malaysian playback singer Malaysia Vasudevan. The song also includes vocals by Yugendran Vasudevan and Deepthi Suresh, with lyrics crafted by Vishnu Edavan and Super Subu. This blend of traditional and modern elements is set to offer a unique auditory experience.

Reviving Malaysia Vasudevan’s Legacy

On Saturday, the producers of “Vettaiyan” announced the exciting revival of Malaysia Vasudevan’s voice through advanced AI technology, marking his first collaboration with Rajinikanth in 27 years. Malaysia Vasudevan, a celebrated Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor, passed away in 2011. His final project with Rajinikanth was in the 1987 film “Oor Kavalan.” The decision to use AI to bring back his iconic voice for “Manasilaayo” adds a nostalgic layer to the song, making it a poignant tribute for fans and a highlight of the film’s musical score.

Star-Studded Cast and Technical Expertise

“Vettaiyan” represents Anirudh Ravichander’s fourth collaboration with Rajinikanth, following their successful ventures on “Petta” (2019), “Darbar” (2020), and “Jailer” (2023). The film features a stellar technical crew, including cinematographer SR Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, “Vettaiyan” boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil debut, alongside Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and VJ Rakshan. The reunion of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth after 33 years further amplifies the film’s anticipation and excitement.
