RRR Disappoints on TV, a Big Time!

The magnum opus of SS Rajamouli, RRR was a sensational blockbuster not just in India but all around the world. People have enjoyed the way two legendary historical persons called Komuram Bheem and Alluri Sita Rama Raju were brought to life in a fictional tale. Ntr and Ram Charan’s acting, the background score, the visuals and the tight screenplay by the father-son duo of SSR and Vijayendra Prasad have made the audience across the world spellbound. Sitting in the top 10 of international Netflix shows the range of success RRR has seen. Overall, the film has milked worldwide box office for Rs 1200 Crores and has joined the list of highest collected Indian films of all time. But, after seeing all this glory, the film has toppled in the TV ratings!

RRR received a very poor TRP rating while televised in a premier show on Star Maa last week. Barc has released the details of ratings and the SSR directorial has clocked just 19.62 TVR ratings which should be said as a very meagre number considering the points many other movies got. To date, the highest TRP ratings in Telugu movies are with Ala Vaikuntapurramlo with 29.4 points. Next on the list are Sarileru Nikevvaru, Baahubali, Srimanthudu, and Pushpa. It’s noteworthy that RRR is not even in the top 10. Comparatively small films like Fidaa and Geetagovindam are in better ranks pointwise. The poor performance of RRR on TV even though it’s the first telecast, has become a hot topic in Tollywood. Could it be because many people have already seen the film in theatres? Maybe. We can never know the secrets behind TV ratings.
