RRR, the 2022 epic action drama movie became a sensation not only in India but also worldwide. The revolutionary tale of Ram and Bheem was loved by many globally and locally. The song, Naatu Naatu made history by winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe in 2023. SS Rajamouli was also awarded the highly coveted New York Film Critics Circle Award for the Best Director for this magnum opus.
The movie was released in various countries and took the box office by storm. But no where more so than in Japan. The movie saw splendid success as the Japanese RRR fanatics bought merchandise, made videos and danced on the hit song Naatu Naatu, and even created fanart on Ram Charan and NTR’s characters.
Even now, after a year of the movie’s release in India, RRR is still on a roll. On 197th day of the film’s release, the movie recorded it’s biggest Friday at the Japan box office ever since it’s release. Reportedly, the movie crossed 115 crores in the country. Japan now stands as the movie’s largest grossing overseas territory.
RRR and it’s stars are still receiving huge love from Japanese audience as it looks like people are still flocking to the theatres to catch the epic flick.
