It’s a big win for Tollywood. RRR‘s song “Naatu Naatu” has won the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. Composed by MM Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, the song became massively popular soon after its release in March 2022. After SS Rajamouli’s film’s release on OTT platforms, it got a global reach and the song has since received a lot of love from foreign audiences as well
Songwriters M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose received Oscar statuettes, but the success of “Naatu Naatu” had many authors, from the stars who danced to it in RRR (N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan) to the vocalists who performed it (Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava) to the choreographer who helped make its video a viral sensation (Prem Rakshith).
The song was also performed on the Oscars stage by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. However, Ram Charan and Jr NTR did not perform on stage. Deepika Padukone introduced the performance, which received a standing ovation at the ceremony.
