Bollywood’s most anticipated action sequel, Tiger 3, is the only Hindi film in the last few decades to be theatrically released on Sunday.
Tiger 3 release will coincide with Diwali, and YRF wants to adopt a unique pattern for Salman Khan’s film release. 2023 is certified as the year of “Adhik Mass” per the Hindi calendar, which has resulted in a conflict regarding the exact date of several festivals. Monday, November 13, is Amavasya per the Hindu calendar, which is not a favorable day astrologically to release a film, while Govardhan Pooja/Gujarati New Year falls on November 14. Tiger 3 is an action film from the YRF spy universe directed by Maneesh Sharma.
Yash Raj Films team will be looking to reap the benefit of the extended holiday period in the opening week. In 2016, YRF went against the tide and released Salman Khan & Anushka Sharma starrer Sultan a day before EID. The film recorded a record non-holiday opening day & record-breaking opening weekend. Even Pathaan was released on January 25, a day before the big National Holiday on account of Republic Day.
It is reported that the high-action octane film is being made with an estimated budget of Rs 300 crores and stars Salman Khan, Emraan Hashmi, Katrina Kaif, Revathi, Riddhi Dogra, Vishal Jethwa and Kumud Mishra. Aditya Chopra is bankrolling the action film under the banner of Yash Raj Films.
