Siddhant Chaturvedi Enjoys Bihari Delicacy Litti Chokha

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, known for his roles in “Gully Boy,” “Gehraiyaan,” “Phone Bhoot,” and “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,” recently delighted his fans by sharing his love for traditional foods from eastern India. On his Instagram stories, Siddhant posted a picture of the Bihari delicacy, Litti Chokha, served on a brass thali. The dish was accompanied by raw onions, green chillies, and chutney, creating a visually appetizing display.

To add an authentic touch to his post, Siddhant used the superhit track “Aye Raja Ji” sung by Manoj Tiwari, a superstar of Bihari cinema, from the cult streaming series “Panchayat.” This choice of music further emphasized his appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Bihar.

The Nutritional Powerhouse: Litti Chokha

Litti Chokha is a traditional dish from Bihar, consisting of stuffed and baked wheat balls (Litti) and roasted aubergine mixed with mustard oil, garlic, green chillies, onions, and tomatoes (Chokha). The Litti is stuffed with roasted black chickpea flour (sattu), pickles, and finely chopped green chillies. This dish is not only a popular street food in Bihar but also a nutritional powerhouse. Roasted black chickpea flour, considered a superfood, is a significant part of Tibetan cuisine as well. In Tibet, it is known as Zampa.

Sattu, the key ingredient in Litti, made a comeback in the 19th century during famines in eastern India. Rich in nutrients, sattu became a vital resource for combating famine, highlighting its historical and nutritional significance.
