Siddhant Chaturvedi Reveals Hesitation Over Intimate Scenes

Siddhant Chaturvedi, who gained acclaim for his role in the 2019 film Gully Boy, recently opened up about his initial reluctance to perform intimate scenes in the movie Gehraiyaan. The film, directed by Shakun Batra, explores intricate themes of relationships, infidelity, and ambition, featuring Chaturvedi alongside Deepika Padukone. In an interview with Filmfare, Siddhant disclosed that he nearly withdrew from the project due to discomfort with the film’s intimate scenes.

During filming, Siddhant experienced significant stress, leading him to reconsider his involvement. He recounted a pivotal moment when both his father and producer Karan Johar intervened to support him. His father played a crucial role in encouraging him to persevere, saying, “Listen, in India, 99% of the people will do anything to have this opportunity. They won’t even think about it for a second. What are you even thinking? Please be a man, be professional, this is your job.” This strong message from his father was instrumental in helping Siddhant overcome his fears.

His father further emphasized the importance of seizing the opportunity, stating, “It doesn’t matter. You are the one who will define things. Go do it if you want to be a good actor. You will never be anything special unless you don’t redefine things. Siddhant, it’s Dharma, it’s Deepika Padukone, it’s Shakun Batra, and you have got to do this.” These words of wisdom helped Siddhant push through his reservations and complete his role in the film.

Relatives’ Reactions to Gehraiyaan and Its Impact

Siddhant also shared insights into his relatives’ reactions to Gehraiyaan. He noted that their response was one of surprise and disbelief. “All my relatives were stunned,” he said. “They were like, ‘We thought he had become an actor, but now he’s overdoing it, he is living our dreams.’” Siddhant’s maternal uncle, in particular, was notably reserved, smiling shyly and not engaging deeply with the film’s content. Siddhant expressed frustration, remarking that his relatives focused more on the intimate scenes rather than understanding the film’s broader narrative.

In Gehraiyaan, Siddhant Chaturvedi plays Zain, a charismatic and enigmatic character entangled in a complex love triangle involving Ananya Panday and Deepika Padukone. The film, which was released directly on OTT platforms, received mixed reviews but showcased Chaturvedi’s versatility as an actor. His journey through overcoming personal challenges to fulfill his role underscores his commitment to his craft and highlights the pressures faced by actors in navigating complex roles.
