Sonali Bendre’s agony as a mother watching her child Ranveer go through Asthma

Sonali Bendre is a famous Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil Film artist that started with Aag in 1994. In the former part of her career, she has led hit movies like Hum Saath Saath Hain, Diljale, and Major Saab. In the latter, she was seen as a judge, in reality shows like Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye (2014) and The Broken News (2022). Her Telugu film Murari from 2001 is also pretty famous. Now, she has completely chosen to shift to reality show judging. She’s appeared in many shows like Indian Idol 4, India’s Got Talent, Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz and India’s Best Dramebaaz.

In her personal life, she got married to her Naaraz movie on-set romance with the filmmaker Goldie Behl in 2002 and gave birth to her son, the center of her universe, Ranveer in 2005. In 2018, Sonali Bendre was all over social media because of her bald post-chemo photographs after she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Like a warrior, she came free from it in 2021.

After a rigorous, reckless war with her own body and mind, life – as cruel as it can get – is back with another hard-hitting wave. Sonali’s Instagram posts make it evident how much she loves her son. She recently agreed to become the face of an Asthma awareness campaign among kids. In an interview when this activity was put across, she elaborated, “For me, the connection comes from my son being Asthmatic. Because nobody else is affected by it, we don’t look at it as an illness or a disease but the fact is pollution is really on the rise. Of course, you make the environment better but that isn’t the instant solution for a child who can’t breathe.”

Coming specifically to her experience with Ranveer, she says, “Your whole world comes to a standstill when your child is unable to breathe. Breathing is life. It’s the scariest thing a mother or parents go through.”

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that can happen to anyone at any stage in their life. Symptoms can be on and off, including wheezing, shortness of breath, coughing, or chest tightness. It can be caused due to allergies, pollution, smoke, the flu, cold, etc. It’s crucial to remain aware of these signs because overlooking them can make asthma worse and it can’t be reversed. This incurable disease, unfortunately, can only be prevented. Inhalers are the safest, easiest way to help with asthma attacks while we have other treatment options available too.
