SRK taught lip-sync to Alia Bhatt
Karan Johar’s superhit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani gives to us some of the classics when it comes to music. ‘Tum Kya Mile’ song’s entire backdrop revolves around snow-covered mountains. As the promotional events take place around the nation for RARKPK, Alia Bhatt shares with us the secret behind her phenomenal performance in songs.
None other than Shah Rukh Khan, the OG romance king taught Alia Bhatt the key lessons about how to perfectly lip-sync to a song. Alia said, “I was very nervous to do a lip sync song, and I was doing it after ‘Ishq Wala Love’ (SOTY). May be, it was returning to shoot after a few months but there was this inherent kind of nervousness. So, I was discussing this with Karan and he asked me ‘Why don’t you call Shah Rukh Khan and ask him for tips?'”
She narrated further, “I called him to talk on the phone and said, ‘I just want to understand how you do it because nobody lip syncs like you’. But he said, ‘tu ghar aaja (you come home)… Suhana also wants to learn this and dono milke ek class karenge. Tu gaana leke aaja (both of you together can attend this class. You get your song)’. So, I was with him for two-three hours and Suhana and me we were singing (lip syncing) an entire song together,”
She also revealed that Tum Kya Mile’s extended version is going to be released with extra scenes soon, where Shreya Ghoshal’s part is presented. “It was going really fast and I was getting hyper about it. But the way he broke down and made me download an app etc. and asked me to do it repeatedly and made me learn the song by the end of it. It just shows how generous, and a large-hearted man he is. I don’t know if it will help for this film or not, but it is an irreplaceable experience for me in my life.”
For the general audience, it’s all acting. But only the actors enacting the role know the crucial difference between orating the dialogues versus lip-syncing to a voice that isn’t yours.
