The announcement promo of Leo was unveiled a few days back and as expected it shattered records even before completing 24 hours. Starring Thalapathy Vijay in a leading role, the film is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. After the thunderous success of Vikram, Lokesh and Vijay’s collaboration is something everyone has their eyes on and one can only imagine the hype it carries.
The latest buzz is that even before a small teaser or song was out from the film, Leo is a hot property for buyers. According to local trade sources, Leo is all set to become the first Tamil Film to have a pre-release recovery of Rs 400 crore with the sale of satellite, digital, music and theatrical rights.
“The digital rights of Leo have been sold to Netflix for a sum of Rs 120 crore (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada). The satellite rights are with Sun TV for a sum of Rs 70 crore, whereas Sony Music has acquired music rights for Rs 18 crore. There is a fight for the Hindi dubbed satellite rights between Set Max and Goldmines, and the deal will be locked in a fortnight. The price range for Hindi dubbed on satellite is around Rs 30 crore,” revealed a source close to the development.
With the upcoming action thriller, Vijay and Lokesh will be reuniting after delivering a commercial success, Master. Leo also marks Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha’s reunion after 14 years. The film also stars Arjun Sarja, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon.
