“Thank You” Throws Tollywood To Misery

Naga Chaitanya starrer Thank you, helmed by Vikram K Kumar has bagged the worst opening day record in Chaitu’s Career. This film marks the second collaboration of Chaitu and Vikram after Manam.

However, making the prediction master Dill Raju’s calculations and audience expectations upside down, this film has opened to the lowest for Naga Chaitanya in recent years.

Released amidst huge expectations, the film bagged mixed responses right from the first day. Later, even on the second day, Thank You at the box office continued to bleed as there was no improvement in the collections.

Surprisingly, this film, which made RS. 25 crore pre-release business, grossed less than Rs. 3.50 crores in Telugu states on its first day, earning a mere Rs. 1.60 crores share. Noted that no other Chaitu film has recently bagged such a disastrous opening day collection. Even on the weekend, the film hasn’t perform well and with this, it is sure that the movie achieving the break even is next to impossible.

Apart from Chaitu, this film left the whole Tollywood industry in a big dilemma. Because, in recent days, except RRR, no other film has gained huge profits. Though Bheemla Nayak and Sarkaru Vaari Paata bagged average hits, even those movies left losses to distributors in some areas.

Continuing the loss streak of Ante Sundaraniki and Sammathame, The Warrior released recently had a poor start. However, ‘The Warrior’ should thank the ‘Thank You’ as it made ‘The Warrior’ opening number look far better.

With these many flops in the row, it’s high time for the Tollywood industry to rethink about its routine stories and high ticket prices.
