The wait is finally over – Rakul Preet brings 50s and 60s back at IIFA

Ever since IIFA 2023 has begun in Abu Dhabi, every alternate news is about this big event. Hosted by Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal, we had a lot of celebrities coming in as performers this year – one of them was Rakul Preet Singh. As an introduction, Rakul is a Punjabi girl born in a Sikh family in New Delhi. At the age of just 32, this Bollywood actress has achieved a lot. She has worked mostly in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films. Her film with Ajay Devgn – De De Pyaar De – was based on a taboo romance that got a lot of fame because of its unique storyline. But, the movie that made her famous was Yaariyan and the song ‘Baarish’ from it in 2014. As of 2023, she’s been a part of 5 projects already. Chhatriwali and Boo have already been released on ZEE Cinema and Jio Cinema respectively. Two of her upcoming projects have finished filming while one is still ongoing.

At IIFA this year, Rakul Preet’s performance was the most anticipated because of her hints about bringing back Kishore Kumar and RD Burman’s era. The wait was worth it. Rakul was seen in a gorgeous 50s puff hairstyle and a satin hairband with the classic thigh-slit outfit. And of course, the umbrella. She performed on all the hits from the black and white era like ‘Aaiye Meharbaan’, ‘Babuji Dheere Chalna’, ‘Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh’, ‘Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh’, ‘Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua’ and ‘Meraa Naama Chin Chin Chu’.
