This is how Bawaal’s trailer used Hitler for a hit

Bawaal, a movie that comes from makers of blockbuster masterpieces like Chhichhore and Dangal, Nitesh Tiwari and Sajid Nadiadwala. It’s first poster release gave us the hint that the plot will have a warzone backdrop but how exactly will it be utilized in the plot was the suspense we were eager on. Today, Bawaal’s trailer is out and once you watch it, you’ll be amazed to know how beautifully a romantic comedy of today’s time can blend seamlessly with a history as cruel as Hitler’s.

The trailer starts with Ajay (Varun Dhawan) being a history teacher who is intrigued to know more about Hitler – the most dangerous man in history. He meets Nisha (Janhvi Kapoor) and instantly vibes. Their love story fast forwards to getting married. The theme of anger and clash under the ‘war’ umbrella comes through when Ajay decides to take Nisha on a honeymoon trip to Europe. Up until then, the comedy is alive. After they visit a graveyard, black and white scenes of World War II flash, implying the start of a war between this newlywed too. The iconic catch of the trailer is when Ajay says, “We all too are like Hitler, aren’t we? We aren’t satisfied with what we have. We want what others have.”

The movie’s plot seemingly uncovers how as individuals, the war within us has to be fought as long as we’re alive. With a glimpse of satire, Nitesh Tiwari very skillfully lands the movie to a deep life lesson that’ll stick with us. Bawaal claims its credits on Prime Video on July 21, to add some sizzle this monsoon.
