Unnecessary deal for PS 2; read on to know what

Needless to say, it is a known fact that Ponniyin Selvan 2 started streaming on Amazon Prime last night. But Amazon Prime has given it a twist. Even if you have a Prime membership, you have to pay 399 rupees to watch this movie, and among those 399, 100 rupees will be given back in the form of cash to Prime members. On the other hand, if you don’t have an account, you have to pay $399 completely. Also, a condition to be noted is that after forty-eight hours from the start of the show, the link will stop working.

And this deal with Amazon Prime is surprising everyone, including netizens, because commenting that the film really needs such an unnecessary deal Though PS2 was a hit in Tamil, the film was a flop in Telugu. Unable to meet expectations, it remained far from breaking even. And also, at this moment, when the theatre run is almost over, there is no gain or loss from the OTT release.

So, many are questioning how Amazon Prime thinks that the audience watches the movie by paying such a huge amount. In fact, Amazon Prime is trying hard to make Indian customers accustomed to this pay-per-view model. Recently, Ajay Devgan Bhola followed the same format, but has been left for general streaming since yesterday due to a lack of response. Prime is continuing the same trend for Hollywood movies that came out five or six months ago. We have to see whether Prime’s strategy will work out or resound as a disaster.
