Varisu and Thunivu, the two legendary movies, have an intense race between them as Varisu starrer Vijay and Thunivu starrer Ajith, both of them are Kollywood superstars with a huge devoted fanbase. The superstars have a pretty big fanbase in Tollywood too. The two movies hit theatres yesterday, 11 January.
During Pongal celebrations, two big Tamil language blockbusters competed for screen time at the box office on Wednesday. Varisu, a family comedy starring Thalapathy Vijay, narrowly defeated Thunivu, a thriller starring Thala Ajith, although both movies fared remarkably well, bringing success to Indian cinema as a whole.
Varisu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banner of Seven Screen Studio and Red Giant Movies. In the below following, the collections of day one (1) can be seen of Varisu:
