Actor Vishal talks about Bollywood’s scilence on sexual harassment issues

Tamil industry has recently formed Hema committee for the safety and security of the actors in Kollywood. Actress Rohini has been appointed as the chairperson to attend the sexual harassment complaints and allegations. For now, two complaints have been registered, increasing the courage and belief of other actresses to open up about their experiences.

Kollywood famous actor Vishal has come to support for Hema committee and encouraged the actors to come and share their tragic experiences without any fear of losing their job assuring them.

Actor Vishal statements:

In a conversation, the actor referring to actresses in Tamil industry said, ” please come out in the open. We are here for you as a south Indian artist association. For us, men and women are equal and if people think they will not get movies because they have come out and complain is an old thinking.”

Vishal acknowledges the frequent exploitation in all film industries. ” It is a burning issue and more and more women are coming and talking about it and throwing allegations. One person’s confidence is bringing another person to come out and speak in the open”, the actor said.

However, Vishal also is disappointed that all these issues occurred years before and could outcome out, and he wished these things were spoken before. He said, ” my only worry is that they are coming out after 5 years, and all of which could have been avoided, and even an immediate action would have stopped more incidents.”

Vishal’s take on bollywood keeping quite abut this issues:

Vishal appreciates Telugu, Tamil and Kannada industries for coming forward and wanting a Hema committee. When the actor was questioned about Hindi industry, Bollywood keeping quite on sexual harassment issues, he said, ” it is up to woman to come out and reveal the truth which is very important in their life because they must have gone through a lot of trauma coming out in the open is a bold decision and to pinpoint a particular person. But it can also be misused also in the rampage that is going on. It all depends on the girls in Bollywood. If they have been harassed, come out and reveal the truth, but it’s the time now”

Vishal assured that the committee will ensure the legal aid to the victims and if found guilty of sexual assault they will be passed to cyber police and to will be banned for 5 years in Tamil film industry.
