What Diljit said when KJo wanted his song Lover for RARKPK will shock you

Diljit Dosanjh’s Lover song

Karan Johar’s latest movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani received an all-love response not just for the story, but also the songs. Out of the entire album, Karan Johar revealed that he wanted to use Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Lover’ song for his movie, for which he wanted to go ahead and take Diljit’s consent, to which he gave a response that was unexpectedly baffling.

For someone else’s work to be used in your film, you must first attain copyrights from the original artist, which takes a legal procedure, and also inclusion of the artist. Going with the grain, Karan Johar called Diljit Dosanjh regarding the same and this is what he revealed about how the conversation went by:

“I have to say, people have been so kind, like Diljit, who owns the song Lover. I was told it is ridiculously expensive. I called him and I was asking him ‘Paaji mujhe ye gaana chahiye (I want this song).” He wasn’t understanding at first and then I explained that I want to use the song in my movie, to which he gladly told me, “Aap puch bhi kyun rahe ho, haq banta hai aapka (Why are you even asking, it is your right).”

Diljit Dosanjh is the Punjabi Munda from a small village in Punjab who started his musical journey by singing Kirtans in Gurudwaras, thereby improving his vocal skills. His song ‘Do You Know’ became the first most-reached song in the world that made his famous. After that, many of his songs reached the hundred million mark and changed his fate forever.

Released in 2021, Diljit’s song Lover topped with 111 million views on YouTube. Keeping in mind the beauty of that song, Karan Johar used it in his movie right before the interval and the climax, where Rocky and Rani are about to switch families for three months.
