Director Puri Jagannadh is currently facing the worst crisis of his life with the debacle of Liger. When Ismart Shankar was successful, everyone felt that Puri is back and will be among the blockbusters again. But it seems like that was just a one-off event and Puri is not back at all. With his outdated story and screenplay, the director didn’t seem to be updated for this generation. Now, there are doubts surrounding his career ahead.
Even Vijay Deverakonda, with whom Puri believed that he will be doing Janaganamana irrespective of Liger result, has left him. This is a huge dent to Puri’s credibility and it’s very doubtful if any other actor would give him a chance to work with them. With high hopes for Liger, Puri almost settled in Mumbai for the last three years and planned to stay there. Since the result is quite opposite, Jagan came back to Hyderabad now.
Now, Puri’s team is said to be searching for heroes, at least tier-2, to make movies. As of now, Jagan has very few options available. There were rumors of an Ismart Shankar sequel earlier, but considering his current position, it’s very doubtful. If we see the Tollywood heroes, a few heroes that Jagan can catch up with are Gopichand, Sai Dharam, Karthikeya, Kiran Abbavaram, Allu Sirish, and his own son Akash Puri. All these are tier-3 heroes who might agree to act in Puri’s direction. Well, we have to wait and see what Puri’s next project is.
