A Humble Beginning

Vikrant Massey made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with Lootera, starring alongside Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. Over the years, he has carved a niche for himself with notable performances in films like Dil Dhadakne Do, A Death in the Gunj, Chhapaak, and Haseen Dillruba. However, it was the 12th Fail that marked a significant milestone in his career.

The Success of 12th Fail: Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 12th Fail is based on the 2019 book by Anurag Pathak. The film tells the inspiring story of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to achieve his dreams. Released on October 27, 2023, the film garnered widespread acclaim and is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

In a recent interview with Mashable India, Vikrant expressed his gratitude for the love and respect the film received. He acknowledged that 12th Fail was a special milestone in his career but maintained that he does not consider himself a “box-office star” just yet.

A Long Way to Go

Vikrant believes that true stardom comes with consistency. He stated, “I still am not a box office star. I still have a long way to go for that.” He emphasized that delivering one successful film is not enough to earn the title of a box-office star. Instead, he aims to have 5-7 successful films in his kitty before he can consider himself as such.

Calling it the “bare minimum,” Vikrant hopes to achieve this goal in the next five years. He likened his journey to a cricket match, saying, “Aap ek inning mein khel ke nahin bol sakte ho ki ho gaya” (You can’t play one innings and act like you have achieved it all).

Future Projects

Looking ahead, Vikrant Massey continues to work on diverse projects. He will soon be seen in Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba, a sequel to the 2018 film. His dedication to his craft and his grounded approach to success make him a relatable and inspiring figure in the industry.
