Working With Rajinikanth Ended My South Career: Manisha Koirala

Manisha Koirala was one of the most successful actresses in the 1990s-2000s. Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, she entered the industry with the film ‘Saudagar’ released in 1991 and joined the ranks of Bollywood’s famous actresses. She has been part of many hit movies. She also acted in some South Indian films. Not only in Bollywood, she also gave many blockbuster hits including ‘Bombay’, ‘Indian’, and ‘Mudhalvan’ in the south.

A statement given by this Nepalese actress has created a huge stir recently. Manisha Koirala surprised everyone by saying that her film career was ruined because of one South film. She claims Superstar Rajinikanth’s Baba gave her a big hit. She said that this movie became a black spot for her entire film journey.

‘Baba’ was my last big release in Tamil. It lost miserably in those days. There were a lot of expectations about the film. When the movie failed, I didn’t get any offers from South films. This gave a big blow to my movie career,’ said Manisha Koirala. But she found that when the same film was re-released after 20 years on the occasion of Rajinikanth’s birthday, the film saw good earnings.

But 20 years ago, the pain I felt from this film is unexplainable. She said that the door of South Industry was closed to me because of this movie.
