Zoya Akhtar reveals the long gap between Made in Heaven and its sequel

Sobhita Dhulipala and Arjun Mathur became famous thanks to Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Made in Heaven, one of the biggest OTT blockbusters of 2019. However, it took the show’s creators four years to release the second season. In a recent interview, a question was posed to Zoya regarding the four-year gap and whether she was concerned about keeping the audience’s interest for such a lengthy time.

As the “whole world lost the momentum” as a result of the pandemic, Zoya claimed to Film Companion, the production of the show was first hampered. She said, “We were very worried about audience’s interest and will it sustain? “, adding that the team was “concerned” about doing so. But if we were doing it, we wanted to present our best selves in the hopes that they would return.

Speaking on the positive feedback the first season received, Zoya stated, “2019 saw its release and we received a lot of positive feedback, both domestically and internationally. The writing in the second season needed to be more richer and more complex. We did invest a lot of time because the show needed to grow naturally.

According to Zoya Akhtar, the epidemic forced them to stop just as they were ready to begin filming. She continued, “We had a big cast and a lot of shows were shut down concurrently. We shut down three times because even if you were permitted to get back to work, you couldn’t have more than 50 people on set, which didn’t really work out for Made in Heaven. It was incredibly difficult to bring the circus back since our actors had to finish other projects.
