Plot Synopsis

“The Goat Life” is an adaptation of Benyamin’s acclaimed novel “The Goat Days.” The story revolves around Najeeb, a Malayali migrant portrayed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who embarks on a journey filled with hopes of prosperity in the Gulf. Living peacefully in Kerala with his wife Sainu (Amala Paul), Najeeb’s dream comes true when he secures a visa and travels to Saudi Arabia.

However, fate takes a drastic turn, leading him into a life of servitude in the harsh desert landscape, where he tends to goats and sheep with no foreseeable escape. What follows is a poignant exploration of Najeeb’s resilience and the harsh realities he confronts.

Cast and Crew of The Goat Life

In addition to Prithviraj Sukumaran’s compelling portrayal of Najeeb, the film boasts a talented ensemble cast. KR Gokul stars as Hakim, Najeeb’s co-traveller, while Talib Al Balushi portrays Kafeel, his ruthless Arab boss. Jimmy Jean-Louis takes on the role of Khadiri, an African slave enduring hardships alongside Najeeb.

The film’s soulful and evocative music is crafted by A.R. Rahman, enhancing the visual narrative that juxtaposes the lush landscapes of Kerala with the unforgiving Saudi desert. Cinematographer Sunil KS skillfully captures these contrasts, providing an unflinching portrayal of Najeeb’s journey.

Produced by Blessy, Steven Adams, and Jimmy Jean-Louis under Alta Global Media, Visual Romance, and Jet Media Production, with distribution by Prithviraj Productions, “The Goat Life” promises a cinematic experience that resonates deeply with its audience.
