the web show portrays the events of the terrible 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight by terrorists. The real names of the terrorist hijackers were Ibrahim Athar, Shahid Akhtar Sayed, Sunny, Ahmad Qazi, Zahoor Mistry and Shakir. However, in the show, they are named Bhola, Shankar, Doctor, Burger, and Chief, hinting at their code names.

PIL (Public Interest Litigation) filed on the show

The Delhi High Court received a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Monday for the demand that the Netflix India series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack not be allowed to be viewed by the general public.

According to accounts, the petition claims that the show misrepresents information regarding the true names of the hijackers who took control of Indian Airlines Flight 814 in 1999. It asserts that this distortion perpetuates negative stereotypes and false information.

According to official sources, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting called Netflix India’s content head on Tuesday to ask about the contentious elements of the show, which depicts the 1999 hijack of an Indian Airlines flight by the terror group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, which is based in Pakistan.
