Guruvayoorambala Nadayil

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s second major hit of the year, “Guruvayoorambala Nadayil,” directed by Vipin Das of “Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey” fame, is a comedic take on wedding chaos. The story follows Vinu, who finds himself in a comical mess when someone from his past reappears just before his wedding to Anandan’s sister.

The ensuing conflict between Vinu and this individual leads to a series of hilarious events, making it a must-watch. The OTT platform for this film has yet to be announced, but it is slated for a July 2024 release. The cast includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Basil Joseph, and Nikhila Vimal.

Malayalee from India

Nivin Pauly’s latest film, “Malayalee from India,” has been the subject of controversy due to plagiarism allegations post its theatrical release. Despite this, the film, directed by Dijo Jose Antony of “Jana Gana Mana” fame, promises to be an entertaining watch. It tells the story of a lazy youth who gets embroiled in a political controversy, forcing him to flee his hometown.

His journey leads him to a place that challenges his prejudices and perspectives. This highly anticipated movie will be available on Sony LIV in the second week of July. The cast includes Nivin Pauly, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and Anaswara Rajan.

Turbo

“Turbo” features Mammootty as Turbo Jose, directed by Vysakh, and scripted by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The action-packed film revolves around an Idukki native whose good deed complicates a relationship, sending him to Chennai where he becomes entangled in a larger conspiracy involving business tycoons, politicians, banks, and the underworld.

There are hints that “Turbo” could be the beginning of a franchise, potentially bringing Vijay Sethupathi back to Malayalam cinema. The OTT platform and release date for “Turbo” are yet to be announced. The cast includes Mammootty, Raj B Shetty, and Anjana Jayaprakash.

Thalavan

“Thalavan,” directed by Jis Joy, marks his second and best attempt at the thriller genre. The film stars Asif Ali and Biju Menon as two police officers with contrasting styles working in the same station.

The plot thickens when one officer is accused of murder, and the other is assigned to investigate the case, giving him a chance to exact revenge on his superior. The film explores themes of duty versus personal vendetta. It will be available on Sony LIV, though the exact release date is yet to be confirmed. The cast includes Asif Ali, Biju Menon, and Kottayam Nazir.
