Following the success of John Wick: Chapter 4, this series promises to delve deeper into the intricate world of assassins and the High Table.
Plot and Setting
Set immediately after the events of John Wick: Chapter 4, the series will explore the aftermath of John Wick’s departure from the world of the High Table. The official synopsis reveals that the High Table is left in a precarious position. And a collection of new characters will emerge, eager to make a name for themselves. Meanwhile, some of the franchise’s stalwart characters will remain committed to the old-world order, creating a dynamic clash between tradition and innovation.
Creative Team: The series will be written and directed by Robert Levine, known for his work on The Old Man. Levine will also serve as an executive producer alongside Keanu Reeves, Chad Stahelski, and Thunder Road Films. Stahelski, who has been a pivotal figure in the John Wick franchise, is set to direct the pilot episode. Although Keanu Reeves is not expected to reprise his role as John Wick in the series, he is heavily involved in the project, ensuring that the essence of the franchise is maintained.
Franchise Expansion
John Wick: Under the High Table marks the second series in the franchise. Following The Continental: From the World of John Wick, which streamed on Prime Video India last year. In addition to the new series, several other John Wick projects are in the pipeline. A fifth installment of the main film series is in development. With Keanu Reeves set to return as the titular character and Chad Stahelski directing. Another highly anticipated project is John Wick Presents: Ballerina, a spin-off focusing on Ana de Armas’ character, set between the third and fourth films. Ballerina is slated for release on June 6, 2025.
Furthermore, a spin-off centered on Donnie Yen’s character, Caine, introduced in John Wick: Chapter 4, is also in the works. This spin-off will continue Caine’s story arc, exploring his life after being freed from his obligations to the High Table. Robert Askins, known for his work on The Umbrella Academy and The Son, is writing the screenplay.
