With a Hindi opening of Rs 7.50 crore, Devara saw a surge in receipts throughout the weekend, concluding its first weekend with Rs 26.5 crore. The first Monday of the film’s release saw a significant decline, and it appeared that Hindi audiences would not be able to support it. But the patterns in the days that followed painted a different image.

Gandhi Jayanti on Tuesday and Wednesday saw a spike in ticket sales for the film, which contributed to its solid first-week total. According to projections, Devara’s first week’s overall cume reached Rs 43 crore, with a net receipt of Rs 2.25 crore in Hindi on Thursday.

Devara did better in non-national chains and single screens in the North belt, which reflects the shining stardom of Jr NTR among the masses of the heartland. Even though there are no Bollywood releases this week, the Koratala Siva-directed film serves as a decent filler. The faulty calendar planning of the Hindi film industry has surely enabled Devara to demonstrate a good hold at the box office.

The film does particularly well in Telugu and Hindi, but it does poorly in Tamil and Malayalam, which is rather concerning. The film failed to attract much of an audience abroad either.

In the second week, due to the Navratri and Dussehra festival period, Devara is projected to hold well. Despite receiving conflicting reviews, the film has managed to garner respectable attendance, which is helping it come to a successful conclusion. With new releases and fewer shows, the true test will start the third weekend.
