Kalki 2898 AD Team Faces Legal Trouble for Latest Sci-Fi Film

Kalki 2898 AD Team Faces Legal Trouble for Latest Sci-Fi Film. Acharya Pramod Krishnam, a well-known spiritual leader and former Congress politician, has recently issued a legal notice to the makers of the film “Kalki 2898 AD.” The notice, sent by Supreme Court advocate Ujjawal Anand Sharma on behalf of Krishnam, targets prominent actors Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, among others. This move has stirred significant controversy online.

Who is Acharya Pramod Krishnam?

Acharya Pramod Krishnam is the founder of the Shri Kalki Foundation and serves as the Peethadhishwar of the Kalki Dham in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Born on January 4, 1965, in Bihar, he has been actively involved in various social and religious activities. Krishnam’s political career includes contesting the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 2019 as a Congress candidate, though he did not win. His outspoken nature led to his expulsion from the Congress party in February 2024 for indiscipline.

The Legal Notice and Its Implications

The legal notice claims that “Kalki 2898 AD” misrepresents Lord Kalki, the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, as described in Hindu Puranic scriptures. Krishnam argues that the film has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus by altering the sacred texts of Sanatana Dharma. He emphasized that India’s cultural fabric is deeply intertwined with emotions, faith, and devotion, and these values should be respected.

Krishnam criticized filmmakers for frequently disrespecting Hindu sentiments and portraying saints negatively. He stated, “This film goes against what is described in our scriptures. This film is hurting our religious sentiments. Therefore, we have noted some objections and are waiting for a response. Playing with the sentiments of Hindus has become a pastime for filmmakers. Saints are portrayed as demons. Freedom of expression does not mean that you can play with our faith.”

The Controversy and Public Reaction

The controversy has sparked a heated debate online. With many supporting Krishnam’s stance on preserving religious integrity, while others argue for the importance of creative freedom in filmmaking. “Kalki 2898 AD,” directed by Nag Ashwin, features a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, and Disha Patani.
