Varun Dhawan Intially kept away from Janhvi Kapoor during Bawaal; here’s why!

Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, directed by Nitesh Tiwari dropped its trailer recently. The trailer was met with lots of curiosity and eager anticipation to know more. While promoting the film, in a recent interview, actor Varun Dhawan revealed that he initially tried to keep away from his co-star and wouldn’t communicate, maintaining an air of distance for a month because he felt like they would become friends instantly otherwise.

“Because I felt we’ll become friends like this (snaps). I said let me not, and let me be a little aloof, a little cold. I’ll talk to everyone else but her, and purposely. I felt it might evoke something in her and something in me when we were doing scenes of that nature,” said Varun, adding that Nitesh Tiwari was also on board with it. This is jarring because, as we now know from their funny social media banter, the two share an adorable and close friendship.

Dhawan even stated that he looks best on-screen with Janhvi Kapoor! Though the actor justified his actions by saying that it helped them both bring life to their characters at the time, because they too became friends gradually like the roles they were playing. He went on to say, “And then eventually, I told her after 20 days. Then she realized it, otherwise, she took it personally.

See, I did it selfishly but I think it helped both of us at that time. Actually, in the film, how gradually the couple got to know each other, we also got to know each other gradually, which was interesting.” directed

Bawaal will be released on Amazon Prime Video on July 21.
