Japan demands a Japanese dub of Bawaal

Bawaal is Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming OTT movie with a unique war backdrop. It consists of reference from World War II, specifically focusing on Hitler’s history. Because of the historical relevance, Japan has requested a Japanese dub for the movie. This is a big ground-breaking news for Bawaal pre-release that can increase its hype last minute.

Currently, movies see more success on OTT platforms than theatres. Bawaal is releasing on Amazon Prime Video on July 21, 2023. On such short notice, it is not possible to launch the dubbed version with the original one. Hence, it’s possible that Bawaal will grab the headlines once again in a few months when the Japanese version is ready.

Reportedly, The requests have come in from the Japanese audience. They have expressed their interest to dub it in the local language as due to the World War 2 connection, the film has the potential to resonate with the audience in Japan. There are conversations in Japan taking Bawaal as the subject matter of the film touches upon the themes and events surrounding World War 2, which also forms a part of Japan’s history.

Briefly summarizing Bawaal’s trailer, it’s a love story between Ajay and Nisha, where Ajay is an ordinary History teacher in a school but is deeply intrigued by Hitler’s history. After getting married to Nisha, he takes her to Europe for a honeymoon trip, while his intention is exploring the WWII locations. Amidst the trip, they go through a clash in their marriage which is sequentially related with Hitler’s personality. The moral hits when Ajay says we all are a little like Hitler in our lives, never happy with what we have.

Bawaal has made a beautiful blend between modern romance and historical events, subtly teaching an important life lesson of finding oneself’s true identity.
